Help keep our shelves stocked!
According to Feeding America’s Hunger Map, some 1,550 people in Dukes County, which encompasses Martha’s Vineyard, are considered food-insecure. That’s nearly ten percent of the island’s year-round population.
There’s much work ahead as we strive to make healthy food more widely accessible across the island. Community donation boxes and food drives are important elements of the Pantry’s work to address hunger here, but the increased need for food assistance on the island means fundraising efforts will be essential to this year’s work.
Until now, the Island Food Pantry has operated on a “spend what you take in” basis. We now purchase upwards of 16,000 pounds of food each month. A greater emphasis on business and community partnerships and private fundraising will help the Pantry stabilize fluctuations in cash flow, plan ahead, operate more efficiently, and better reach those in need. Please consider supporting the Island Food Pantry with a financial contribution.
There are different ways to donate.
Choose what works best for you:
- Monthly donation – a sustainer donation helps us plan better, because we know we can count on your help from month to month. Regular payments are easy through your bank, credit card, or PayPal.
- Make a one-time donation – any size donation is welcome. We live by the checks large and small that come each week to the Island Food Pantry, PO Box 1874, Vineyard Have 02568.
- Celebration gift – many of our donations come in honor of someone – a birthday, anniversary, holiday, or in memory of a loved one.
- Endowment – an endowment, no matter the size, helps us keep up our level of service even when our regular donations slip a bit.
The Island Food Pantry is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and contributions are tax-deductible to the extent of the law.
Together with our many volunteers, partners, and supporters, we help sustain our neighbors in times of need by providing a dependable source of wholesome food.
